Billionaire Bill Ackman Tries to Play Peacemaker in Trump-Musk Dust-Up

Billionaire hedge funder Bill Ackman stepped forward Thursday as a possible peacemaking mediator in the very public feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk with a plea for unity after frustrations spilled out across social media when the ex-DOGE head unleashed a vicious bombardment of accusations.

As a longtime Trump ally and key figure in the elite MAGA donor class, Ackman took to X to deliver a carefully worded intervention in hopes of bridging the growing divide.

“I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country,” he wrote. “We are much stronger together than apart.”

The plea came as Musk’s tirade continued, accusing Trump of fiscal recklessness, calling for his impeachment, and even hinting at the formation of a new political party. Trump, for his part, responded in kind – threatening to strip Musk’s companies of lucrative government contracts and labeling the mogul as having “gone crazy.”

Musk’s provocations included cryptic suggestions the president was named in the unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files. At one point, he even vowed to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, a move that would have effectively cut a vital lifeline between NASA and private spaceflight.

Replying to Ackman, Musk wrote: “You’re not wrong.”

Despite the hint at a possible impending truce, with a reported call planned between the two Friday, the blow-up marks a dramatic rupture in the MAGA-tech alliance that once looked poised to shape a second Trump administration from the inside out.
