CNBC’s Joe Kernen Mocks Trump’s Stolen Election Lie Right To Don Jr.’s Face
CNBC anchor Joe Kernen mocked President Donald Trump’s “stolen election” claims to troll co-anchor Andrew Ross Sorkin — with Donald Trump Jr. sitting right at the table.
Trump Sr. has spent years falsely claiming that the 2020 election was “rigged” against him and/or “stolen” from him, despite the fact that then-future President Joe Biden defeated Trump in an electoral landslide that has been reaffirmed over and over by state officials from Trump’s own party and dozens of court decisions.
He made the claim as recently as last week during an Oval Office gaggle.
Don Jr. and 1789 Capital President Omeed Malik were guests on Tuesday’s edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box, during which the pair discussed their business ventures, the crypto industry, the state of the economy, and a variety of other issues.
When Malik referenced Trump’s 2016 victory and his 2024 comeback, Kernen made a crack about Trump winning in 2020. He then instantly clarified that he was joking for the benefit of his colleague Sorkin:
OMEED MALIK: President Trump could not have been elected in 2016 if you didn’t have the people feel that backlash. And he certainly couldn’t have made a comeback if President Biden had addressed those issues.
JOE KERNEN: Well, and re-elected in 2020.
OMEED MALIK: Yeah, well–.
(LAUGHTER AND GIGGLING).
DONALD TRUMP JR.: I always think sometimes you have to hit rock bottom, and I think it took…
JOE KERNEN: That was for him! That was for him! (POINTING AT SORKIN)
ANDREW ROSS SORKIN: He’s talking about (INAUDIBLE) he’s talking about stolen elections–.
JOE KERNEN: I’m sorry! I take that back!
DONALD TRUMP JR.: It took four years of Biden–.
JOE KERNEN: That was totally for you! I take it back!
DONALD TRUMP JR.: But I think that it did take the four years of Biden for America to realize how fragile some of these things are.
