‘CRAZED LUNATICS!’ Trump Rages at Democrats for ‘Slow Walking’ His Nominees

President Donald Trump raged at Democrats for “slow walking” more than 150 of his nominees, branding the party’s lawmakers as “CRAZED LUNATICS.”

The outburst comes as senior Republicans claim Democrats have been systematically stalling on confirmation processes all year by refusing unanimous consent votes and demanding time-consuming roll calls for each nominee. Trump, already fuming over the delays, had urged Senate Republicans to cancel recess altogether and muscle through the backlog.

On Saturday, the Senate left Washington for its August recess in disarray — and Trump’s nominees in limbo — after failing to strike a bipartisan deal that crumbled in the final stretch. As talks collapsed, the president fumed that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer should “GO TO HELL!”

Doubling down in a late Sunday Truth Social post, the president wrote:

Democrats, lead by Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, are slow walking my Nominees, more than 150 of them. They wanted us to pay, originally, two billion dollars for approvals. The Dems are CRAZED LUNATICS!!!

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, meanwhile, signaled that Republicans may now consider overhauling confirmation procedures when they return next month.

“I think they’re desperately in need of change,” Thune said of the Senate’s rules. “The last six months have demonstrated this process is broken.”

Schumer warned that any unilateral rules change would be “a huge mistake,” pointing out that Republicans will still need Democratic cooperation on spending bills.

The impasse marks yet another escalation in a procedural fight that has gripped the Senate for two decades. Each party has gradually stripped away the norms that once ensured at least some bipartisan buy-in for executive and judicial nominees.
