Dems Troll Elon Musk at Joint Address as Trump Declares ‘The Days of Being Ruled by Unelected Bureaucrats is Over’
Several Democratic lawmakers were seen trolling Elon Musk as President Donald Trump declared “the days of being ruled by unelected bureaucrats is over” during his Tuesday night speech to Congress.
Laughter could be heard as Trump made the remark, with several Dems — clad in pink — pointing up to Musk’s perch above the gallery.
Other critics joined in, including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.
“Gotta admit this one didn’t quite land since Elon is basically Co-President,” Portnoy posted on X.

Musk has been a figure of controversy since cozying up to Trump, praised by those who see him as bringing accountability to the government but also slammed by those who believe he has been unnecessarily cruel and reckless in his new position as the assumed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk has faced repeated criticism that he is himself an unelected bureaucrat with enormous power over the federal government.
Trump has repeatedly acknowledged Musk as the head of DOGE — despite a legal filing from his own White House.
Last month, Trump maintained at a Miami conference that he “signed an order creating the Department of Government Efficiency and put a man named Elon Musk in charge.
“Thank you, Elon, for doing it. And he’s doing a great job.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) gently rebuked Musk over his actions at DOGE earlier Tuesday on CNN, reminding him that federal workers are “real people” and “need to be treated that way.”
