Did Trump Get Caught Talking About a Personal Business Deal With Indonesia’s President?
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was caught on a hot mic asking President Donald Trump for a meeting with his son, Eric Trump, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
Reuters first reported on the moment, which occurred just after Trump addressed a summit in Egypt.
“Can I meet Eric?” Subianto reportedly asked Trump.
“I’ll have Eric call. Should I do that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call,” Trump responded.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asked U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday if he could meet with Trump’s son Eric, an executive vice president of the Trump Organization, according to comments by the leaders picked up by a microphone after Trump had addressed a Gaza-focused summit in Egypt. Trump and Prabowo, who were also seen on video, appeared to be unaware that a live microphone was recording their conversation.
It was not immediately clear from the audio why Subianto was seeking a meeting with the younger Trump, but it appears the two men did not realize their conversation was being picked up by a nearby microphone.

Reuters reported that Subianto mentioned the name “Hary” and finding a “better place” in his exchange with Trump. It’s unclear who “Hary” is or what the Indonesian president was referring to when he mentioned a “better place.”
After Trump said for a second time that he would have his son call the Subianto, the Indonesian president reportedly replied, “Eric or Don Jr.,” referring to Trump’s other son, Donald Trump Jr.. Trump Jr. is also an executive vice president for the Trump Organization. The president handed over control of his company to his sons after taking office, and he is no longer involved in day-to-day business, according to the organization.
While it is unclear what Trump and Subianto were referring to, the Trump Organization has growing business in Indonesia. They opened a golf club in the country earlier this year and have other properties listed as “coming soon” on their website.
Trump’s address to the summit was focused on peace in the Middle East and a recent deal his administration brokered between Israel and the terror group Hamas.
