‘F**k Right!’ Bill Maher Cheers Trump — Slams Reporter Who Asked ‘Stupid Question’ About Visiting Air Crash Site

Comic and political pundit Bill Maher cheered President Donald Trump for cracking wise when a reporter asked if he plans to visit the air crash site where recovery and investigative efforts are underway.

On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, longtime columnist Peggy Noonan was the interview guest.

Max Brooks, author and host of YouTube’s Max Brooks Breaks Down, and British historian, TV host, journalist, and author Dan Jones were the panel guests.

During his interview with Noonan, Maher brought up an Oval Office exchange in which a reporter asked about visiting the crash site:

REPORTER: Have you spoken to any of the families of the victims of the plane crash?

TRUMP: I don’t want to comment on that.

REPORTER: Do you have a plan to go visit the site?

TRUMP: I have a plan to visit that the site because you tell me — What’s the site? The water? You want me to go swimming?

Maher said Trump was “exactly right” and that it was a “stupid question” — and he and Noonan it was an example of “why they like him”:

PEGGY NOONAN: I think the rise of Donald Trump, who also was a reflection of changes, I think within us, sort of desire for a politics that’s maybe a little rougher and more direct.

BILL MAHER: A little?!?

(LAUGHTER)

PEGGY NOONAN: And maybe more cutting and maybe more.

BILL MAHER: Yeah, I get it. You know? I mean, they asked him a question today, and I’m sure if you’re the type of person who just always hates the one team and loves what the other one does–.

They asked him a question about the crash and they said, will you visit the crash site?

Now, every other politician would go “Of course it was a tragedy.”.

And he went, “It’s the water. What do you want me to do, swim there?”.

Yeah. And I was like, exactly! Fuck right! You’re exactly right. It’s a stupid question.

And you got just the answer you deserve. And that is why they like him.

PEGGY NOONAN: Yeah. Yeah. He also it’s so interesting to me that he meets with the press all the time.

Normally, if you’re a member of the press, you’re wondering what’s the president really thinking and how’s he going to play it with Donald Trump? You never wonder that he will actually tell you what he’s thinking and how he might play it.

So. So it’s an interesting– it’s the positive side of a, of a mixed bag, I guess.

get out.
