Donald Trump Jr. pinned an X post trolling New York Attorney General Letitia James following a $500 million-plus penalty against his father was thrown out on appeal.
Trump Jr. dug up a 2024 post from James and responded on Thursday following news that his father, President Donald Trump, will no longer be facing a $515 million penalty. James’s post was a troll of Trump, reminding him of how far his owed payment had climbed with interest.
“$464,576,230.62,” she posted in February 2024.
“I believe you mean $0.00,” Trump Jr. responded this week, giving a fresh update to James’s amount. “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The president was ordered to pay $354 million by Judge Arthur Engoron after being accused of fraudulently stating his wealth on business documents to insurers and others. Trump’s owed figure climbed to $515 million this year with interest.
James’s post that Trump Jr. responded to was actually part of a trilogy of trolling from the attorney general.
The day after posting the full amount, she wrote on X, “+$114,553.04.” She followed that post up by writing, “+$114,553.04 = $464,805,336.70.”
A New York appeals court threw out Trump’s penalties this week after determining the amount was excessive.
President Trump declared “TOTAL VICTORY” in the “fake” case.
“I greatly respect the fact that the Court had the Courage to throw out this unlawful and disgraceful Decision that was hurting Business all throughout New York State,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Others were afraid to do business there. The amount, including Interest and Penalties, was over $550 Million Dollars. It was a Political Witch Hunt, in a business sense, the likes of which no one has ever seen before. This was a Case of Election Interference by the City and State.”
