Fired Up Border Czar Tom Homan Tears Into Maryland Senator Over Visit to El Salvador Megaprison: ‘It’s Just Disgusting’

A visibly angry Tom Homan shredded a Maryland senator for planning a visit to the Salvadoran megaprison where a migrant is being held after he was mistakenly arrested and deported.

Homan’s remarks came a day after Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D) announced he would be heading to El Salvador to conduct a “welfare check” on Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran migrant he claimed was “abducted,” detained, and deported last month, a move the Trump administration later conceded was done in error.

In an interview with Fox & Friends Wednesday, Homan took issue with the classification of Garcia as “abducted.”

“He wasn’t abducted,” Homan told Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones. “He is an MS-13 gang member. Classified as a terrorist. That was removed from this country. So we got rid of a dangerous person, an El Salvadorian national, returned to the country of El Salvador to his home. We removed him from the United States, a public safety threat, exactly what should have happened. I’m just as disgusted that any congressional representative is going to run though El Salvador to his aid when yesterday I read in his state, an illegal alien charged with murder was released back into the community and and ICE detainer wasn’t honored and ICE had to go find him in his state, in his state. In his state! ”

LAWRENCE JONES: Truly incredible. This comes as House Democrats reportedly planning to send a delegation to the megaprison where he’s being held. Let’s bring in the man himself, border czar Tom Homan joins us now. Tom, I just want to focus on one portion when the senator said that he was abducted. As the former leader of ICE, what do you say to him?

TOM HOMAN: He wasn’t abducted. He is an MS-13 gang member. The murderer of Rachel Morin yesterday listened to the testimony, listened to the mother on Hannity last night, if you are not human, your heart wasn’t broken, in his state. But rather than taking care of the constituents in his state, the victims of illegal crime in his state, he’s going to run to El Salvador to protect an MS-13 terrorist. It’s just disgusting.

JONES: You just talked about that sound from Patty Morin, Rachel’s mom. We actually have it. Let’s play it?

HOMAN: I’m very angry. I’m actually outraged. But I’m too sad at the moment to show anger at the same time. There was no action on the Democrat — Democratic Party in any way from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Mayorkas, anyone here in Maryland. None of the senators did anything to help search for the murderer of my daughter.

JONES: Where were the phone calls, where were the congressional delegations at her funeral, supporting her family when she was killed by an illegal?

HOMAN: They don’t care. Further in her interview she talks about how her young daughter died. How she suffered. How she fought for her life. Just like Laken Riley. For how long, 17 minutes she fought for her life. That young girl didn’t want to die. These congressman and senators, how do these women die? Look how they fought for their life. Don’t they have daughters? Do you have any care at all for American citizens that are victims of these crimes? They are yelling and screaming now about MS-13 gang in Nebraska. Where were they when we had 12 million illegals come across the border. Where were they 4,000 dying making this journey. Where were they millions dying from fentanyl. Every day I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Yesterday I hear about a case in Washington state two illegal aliens from Venezuela kidnapped and tortured and tried to kill a woman, Robert, using a power drill, torturing her in drilling through her hand. Every day I sit at the White House and hear these cases of sanctuary cities not helping ICE remove public safety threats from their community.

JONES: Well, Tom, the proof is in the pudding. And we’re looking at the border now. And there is just no — there is a stark contrast between the border now versus under Joe Biden. Here is some of the footage right here when you can see during the Biden years and now look at it now. I mean, it’s almost operational control and it’s just not the imagery when you look at the numbers. 95% down when it comes to those crossing numbers. How are you able to get it done and so quickly when no legislation passed?

HOMAN: Because I work for the greatest president of my lifetime. Donald Trump. He secured that border in five weeks. He did it in five weeks. With what Joe Biden couldn’t or wouldn’t do in four years. Today, as he is talking right now. Are a we’re talking right now, Lawrence, we have the most secure border in my lifetime right now because of President Trump’s actions. And, getting back to sanctuary cities, they want to keep their game going. So here’s what we are going to do. Get together with secretary nome. We’re going to flood these sanctuary cities with federal agents. If we can’t arrest the bad guy in jail. We’re going to arrest himmen in the street. Got to do it stronger and faster. If we can’t do it in the streets. We’re going to increase worksite enforcement operations in those sanctuary cities. We’re going to flood worksite operations if we can’t arrest them at the home we will arrest them at the workplace. We’re coming to sanctuary cities put all hands on deck. Sanctuary cities are not going to get away with the illegality that is killing Americans at record numbers. I’m disgusted every representative on the hill who isn’t fighting with ice to arrest every public safety
threat, every national security threat, roaming around these communities. President Trump made a promise, we’re going to keep that promise.

JONES: The proof is in the pudding as I said. Is he definitely keeping his promises. So are you, Tom. Thanks for joining the show this morning.

Van Hollen joined CNN’s Kate Bolduan on Tuesday after sending a letter to the El Salvadoran ambassador asking for Garcia’s release.

The Trump administration previously admitted Garcia was deported by “error” to El Salvador, but continues to insist he is an MS-13 gang member that it has no power to retrieve. Garcia has never been convicted of a gang offense, and his lawyers have pushed back on the White House’s claims.

U.S. District Court Judge Paula Xinis eviscerated the White House’s efforts to redefine the word “facilitate” from a Supreme Court ruling this week, instructing them to “cancel vacations” to comply with a two-week inquiry into the matter.

Van Hollen told Bolduan that he has not heard back from El Salvador President Nayib Bukele on the matter of Garcia after the senator requested a meeting.
