Former Trump Lawyer Tells MSNBC the Ex-President’s Federal Criminal Cases Are ‘Serious’: It’s ‘Absolutely’ Possible He Could Be Convicted

Joe Tacopina, ex-attorney for former President Donald Trump, delivered a bleak analysis of the federal criminal cases on Trump’s docket.

Speaking with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC Saturday, Tacopina said that while he doesn’t considered the criminal case filed in Manhattan for alleged falsifying of business records to be particularly strong, the attorney feels differently about the two federal indictments against the former president.

“The two federal cases are serious cases,” Tacopina said. “And I think they’re they’re not to be taken lightly.”

Rev. Sharpton then asked Tacopina about the possibility of a guilty verdict being handed down against Trump.

“Is it possible Donald Trump could end up convicted of one of these cases in your mind?” He asked.

“Absolutely,” Tacopina replied. “You have a jury of 12 who’s going to ultimately decide this.”

The New York-based Tacopina added that he considers special counsel Jack Smith a “serious” prosecutor who he knows personally from his time working in Brooklyn.

Tacopina added, “Look, do I think there’s a political bent to some of this, some of the the way this was gone about? Yes, I do. Do I think these cases are invalid cases? Look, the grand jury voted to indict, and he’s going to have to face a jury in Washington D.C., Florida, and Georgia and New York City. And I’d say maybe three of those venues are not particularly big Trump venues, right? New York City, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. So that’s going to be something to really have to grapple with there. And you can’t say there’s no way he’ll get convicted”
