Fox News Anchor Shakes Her Head as Republican Refuses to Commit to Accepting 2024 Election: ‘If Trump Wins, It’s Fair. If Biden Wins, It’s Not Fair?’
Fox News’ Arthel Neville could only shake her head when Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) refused to commit to accepting the results of the 2024 election during an interview over the weekend.
The exchange began with Neville asking Van Drew if he was comfortable with political contributions from small donors being spent on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s legal expenses.
“I believe the smaller donors, just like the big donors, realize that Donald Trump isn’t being prosecuted, he’s being persecuted. And this is unheard of in American political or judicial or legal history, it really is. And so people understand-” replied the congressman.
“But is it unheard of because, but let me ask you, sir, is it unheard of because this is the first time you have a former president stepping into the arenas, if you will, that he has stepped into. Maybe that’s why it’s unprecedented? Because we’ve never had a former president, behave this way?” interjected Neville.
The conversation continued:
VAN DREW: No, it’s unprecedented because there’s so much at risk. It’s unprecedented because, quite frankly, the left is really concerned that he has a real shot here. He’s gonna win and they are afraid of that so they are using every mechanism possible, whether it’s prosecutors, attorneys general, and just to go after this man for things that are absurd, and people know it, they see it. The American public is not dumb, Donald Trump is going to win, and the American people are gonna support him, and there’s a reason. So he’s going to use money to make sure that he is a viable candidate and that he is heard from because he represents, I believe, the majority of hardworking Americans in our country.
NEVILLE: Congressman in the last minute you just said Donald Trump is going to win. If Donald Trump does not win, will you and the rest of the Republicans and the supporters of Donald Trump accept that he did not win and that the fix is not in? Because that’s very crucial for us to have fair and safe elections.
VAN DREW: If the elections are fair and safe, I always support the result of the election. If they are not, I have concerns and the bottom line is I don’t think-.
Neville was visibly disappointed in the answer, even shaking her head as Van Drew answered.
“So if Trump wins, it’s fair. If Biden wins, it’s not fair. Is that what you’re saying, Congressman?” she asked.
“No, Arthel, it’s not what I’m saying,” shot back Van Drew. “What I am saying is I don’t even think about him not winning because in my mind and many Americans’ minds, including middle of the road independents and Democrats, the future of our nation and the Republic is at risk. This is not about saving the Republican Party, this is about saving the Republic.”
