House Democrat Says He’s Teaming Up With Republican for ‘Explosive’ Epstein Presser This Week — Including Victims Speaking Out for First Time
A House Democrat announced he’s teaming up with a GOP colleague for an “explosive” press conference about the Jeffrey Epstein case — to be held on the steps of the Capitol.
In an interview on Meet the Press Sunday, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) said he and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) are planning a news conference for Wednesday in which, according to the California Congressman, numerous Epstein victims will be coming forward for the first time. Khanna said those victims will join him and Rep. Massie in calling for the full release of the DOJ files on the the convicted child sex trafficker.
“What will be explosive is the September 3rd press conference that both of us are having with 10 Epstein victims, many who have never spoken out before,” Khanna said. “They’re going to be on the steps of the Capitol. They will be telling their story, and they will be saying clearly to the American public that they want the release of the Epstein files for full closure on this matter.”
The House of Representatives is scheduled to return Tuesday after being in recess for more than 40 days. On July 22, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) sent the House into an early recess to avoid a vote on a resolution which would force the release of the files.
On Sunday, Khanna told Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker that he believes Johnson merely delayed the inevitable, and that Massie has enough Republicans on board with him to pass the resolution.
“Do you think when Congress is back the bill will go to the floor and it will pass?” Welker asked.
“I’m very confident it will,” Khanna said. “I spoke to Congressman Massie. You had us both on a few weeks ago. We will have the petition live on September 2nd. We have all 212 Democrats committed to signing it. He has 12 Republicans.”
