House Republican Tells Newsmax ‘Our Economy Right Now Is Not Great, The Jobs Report Was Not Great’

Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT) admitted to Newsmax Monday that the economy isn’t doing great at the moment while arguing that the week-long government shutdown isn’t helping matters.

“What they’re fighting against is President [Donald] Trump. Anything that President Trump does, they want to fight against it because their radical left base demands it,” Zinke said of House Democrats.

Zinke continued:

But what are they fighting for? Are they really fighting for free health care for illegal aliens? Are they fighting for anti law enforcement? Are they fighting for open borders? I guess so.

And you look at, you know, page 57 of their bill no doubt, absolutely, in writing, gives free health care to 1.4 million illegal aliens. That cost is $200 billion and they can’t run away from the truth. So, I submit that they probably have not learned their lesson. And we’ll continue this. But it affects America.

You know, our economy right now is not great. The jobs report was not great. this is yet another distraction from an overall economy that will have effects.

The “page 57” provision of the House Democratic bill Zinke referred to seeks to “reinstate eligibility for Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace coverage for all legal immigrants who were previously eligible.”

It’s currently illegal under federal law for undocumented migrants to receive aid under these programs, with the exception of “limited Emergency Medicaid funding that reimburses hospitals for emergency care.”
