Jake Tapper Grills Amy Klobuchar Over Biden-Era Inaction on Epstein Files — And She Falls Back on Bizarre Deflection

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) issued a bizarre deflection to CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s grilling on why she and other Democrats did little to advance transparency on the Jeffrey Epstein files during Joe Biden’s presidency, despite now calling for their full release.

During an interview with the senator on State of the Union, Tapper directly challenged Klobuchar’s role on the Senate Judiciary Committee, asking if she should have done more “to get flight records and other information about Epstein released.”

Referencing a Truth Social post from President Donald Trump on Friday argued Democrats didn’t act on Epstein because they had “NOTHING,” Tapper jibed that Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) was “the only one on that committee trying” to have the files released but was blocked by then-chair Dick Durbin.

“So the president blaming Democrats for this disaster, Jake, is like that CEO that got caught on camera blaming Coldplay. Okay?” Klobuchar clapped back, smiling, while the anchor remained stonefaced. “Like, this is his making.”

While acknowledging Republicans have been louder on the issue, Klobuchar dismissed the narrative that Democrats were covering for anyone: “He was president when Epstein got indicted for these charges and went to prison. He was president when Epstein committed suicide. And then there was another case, as you know, that continued during the Biden administration. But he was president back then. So all of us would believe they know what’s in these documents. They know what’s there.”

She continued: “They’ve been claiming forever that they should be released. And it is the Trump administration that gave a bunch of binders that said Volume One to reporters just in the last month.”

She added: “It is the Trump administration that has made this promise that they’re going to release it. So blaming Democrats for this to me, I’m sorry, this is the people that have been fomenting this are right wing influencers, members of congress, people who have a reason that they want to know what’s in there. They believed the president when he said, there’s stuff in there that people should see.”
