JUST IN: House Republicans Officially Subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer officially issued a subpoena Wednesday for convicted sex trafficker and Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell to be deposed next month.
The deposition will occur at Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee in Florida on August 11.
Comer’s subpoena cover letter told Maxwell that “the Committee seeks your testimony to inform the consideration of potential legislative solutions to improve federal efforts to combat sex trafficking and reform the use of non-prosecution agreements and/or plea agreements in sex-crime investigations.”
The official subpoena comes amid weeks of outrage after a joint DOJ and FBI memo released in early July stated that “no further disclosure would be appropriate” in the case of the infamous financier and sex offender.
The Trump administration’s handling of the controversy drew such outrage from many in the MAGA base that Attorney General Pam Bondi and President Donald Trump changed course, requesting the release of grand jury testimony related to Epstein.
On Tuesday, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche continued the new attitude, releasing a statement that claimed he had “communicated with counsel for Ms. Maxwell to determine whether she would be willing to speak with prosecutors from the Department.”
“If Ghislaine Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and DOJ will hear what she has to say,” read his official statement.
Maxwell’s collaboration with the Department of Justice was cemented by Wednesday’s subpoena, in which even Comer nodded to the “immense public interest and scrutiny” surrounding the case.
The subpoena came just hours before the Wall Street Journal published a report saying the Bondi had told Trump back in May that his name appears in the Epstein files — an accusation also recently made by Elon Musk.
