Karoline Leavitt Dodges Peter Doocy’s Question About Whether Vladimir Putin Is the ‘Good Guy or the Bad Guy’
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt skirted a question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy about whether Russian strongman Vladimir Putin is the “good guy or the bad guy” in the Ukraine conflict.
Doocy posed the question ahead of two separate phone calls by President Donald Trump to Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in hopes of ending the war.
“Putin ghosted everybody at these peace talks last week,” Doocy began. “As President Trump phones him to try to figure out an end to the Ukraine war, does he think Putin is the good guy or the bad guy?”
Leavitt appeared to avoid the question, responding only by saying: “I will let the president speak on that conversation later. He’s made his feelings about both sides of this war quite clear throughout it. He wants to see it end.”
Back in February, Trump ripped into Zelensky on his Truth Social platform, slamming him as a “dictator.” Days later, Trump and Vice President JD Vance pounced on Zelensky during a contentious Oval Office meeting.
But with Putin, Trump has been less confrontational. During an interview with Bret Baier on his trip to the Middle East last week, Trump was cagey about whether he would “put the screws to Putin” and changed the subject when asked about his opinion of the Russian president.
