Former Vice President Kamala Harris is now reportedly under the protection of Los Angeles police officers after President Donald Trump ended her extended Secret Service protection last week.

As many as 14 members of LAPD’s elite Metro Division have been “pulled from working cases” and “crime suppression efforts” to guard the former vice president, according to Fox 11.

Unmarked SUVs with plainclothes officers have been seen stationed outside Harris’s Brentwood home, where she lives with her husband Doug Emhoff, the New York Post reported.

The shift comes just days after Trump’s order formally revoking Harris’s federal protection. Ex-vice presidents typically receive six months of coverage after leaving office, but former President Joe Biden extended Harris’s security for a full year before leaving office in January. Trump revoked that order.

Democrats, however, including Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass ripped the decision as an “act of revenge.” Subsequently, reports surfaced that Governor Gavin Newsom was weighing additional protection through the California Highway Patrol.

His office did not confirm the claims, but slammed Trump’s move as “vindictive.”
