President Donald Trump provided some unsolicited crisis PR advice to Cracker Barrel amid the continued uproar over its brand makeover on Tuesday.
The nostalgic restaurant chain has encountered significant blowback after it changed its longtime logo, but Trump has a simple plan to help it not only recover from the controversy, but pocket some free publicity in the process.
“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” declared Trump in a post on Truth Social. “They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
“Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was ‘DEAD,'” concluded the president before adding “Good luck!”
MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart raged over the backlash to the logo change on air last week, blaming it on “MAGA voters.”
“I’m so sick of the outrage of these snowflakes. There are so many things that offend them, that get them all upset, they’re shooting beer cans and burning hats and stuff like that,” said Capehart. “I think the manufactured outrage is also about them pretending to feel attacked. Because when you think about Cracker Barrel, as someone who’s been a lot as a kid in the South, you think of folks in the south, you think about folks who are probably MAGA voters, right? That those two circles are probably very close together.”
“And so they’re pretending that this thing that Donald Trump Jr. all of a sudden heard about and cares about now, Cracker Barrel. He’s so offended by it and it’s wokeness and I would love to hear from him whether or not he’s actually been to a Cracker Barrel,” he concluded.
