An Indian tourist has gone viral after he unknowingly captured footage of a recent terror attack while ziplining.
Rishi Bhatt, of Ahmedabad, filmed himself ziplining in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow on April 22 as multiple gunmen shot more than two dozen people. Bhatt smiles as he films himself propelling down the line, but below him, people can be seen running as gunshots are heard.
“After about 20 seconds, I realized that it was a terrorist attack and people on the ground are being killed. I saw 5-6 people getting shot,” Bhatt told ANI News.
The tourist said he quickly unlatched himself after the zipline ride and escaped the area with his family once he realized what was happening.
“We saw people hiding at a spot which was like a pit, so you could not spot someone easily there. We too hid there,” he said.
Bhatt described a brief pause in the shooting before it picked up again, saying he saw more than a dozen people shot. He said he recalled families being asked their religion.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to pursue the gunmen behind the terror attack “to the ends of the Earth.”
“Today, from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world. India will identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished,” he said.
The prime minister added, “The entire nation is one in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people of various countries and their leaders have stood with us.”
