Man Grabs Trump Hats From Charlie Kirk Booth After Shooting — Tosses Into Crowd As Security Chases Him Away

Social media video shows a man grabbing pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” hats from Charlie Kirk’s booth following the shooting and tossing some into the crowd as he’s chased away.

The political and media world was stunned when news broke Won ednesday afternoon that Kirk had been shot during an event at Utah Valley University. While thoughts and prayers flooded the airwaves and social media, grisly videos of the incident circulated widely and foreshadowed the news that was to come. Kirk died from the injuries he sustained in that shooting.

Although Trump FBI Director Kash Patel issued a (later-retracted) statement claiming the shooter was in custody, that turned out not to be true and the shooter remains at large as of this writing. The man taken into custody was not the shooter and was later released.

The agency released photos of the suspect on Thursday, just hours after a press conference at which the existence of the images was revealed.

The social media clips that flooded X/Twitter following the shooting have become a major focal point, as the often-graphic footage dominated timelines whether people wanted to see them or not.

But other videos from before and after the shooting circulated as well. In the minutes after the news broke, fans of the late activist posted clips of him tossing MAGA hats into the crowd, a regular habit at Kirk’s events.

In a chilling echo of that clip, another video features a man who happens to be Black going around the barriers to grab a stack of the MAGA hats, then tossing one to a member of the crowd who asked for one. As he was chased away, he threw another one towards the crowd.

Many of the users circulating the clip did so with the addition of shockingly racist captions.
