MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Lashes Out At Trump Over Andrew Tate, Roasts ‘Starstruck’ Alina Habba For Fawning Encounter

MSNBC host Chris Hayes lashed out at President Donald Trump over the release of the Tate brothers, and roasted Trump counselor Alina Habba for a fawning encounter with Andrew Tate on a recent podcast.

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were permitted to leave Romania Thursday not long after Trump envoy Ric Grennell broached the case in discussions with Romanian officials. The MAGA influencers/accused sex traffickers were denounced by Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) but were promptly invited to speak to a local Republican group.

Trump claimed he didn’t know about the release when asked about it Thursday, but Habba gushed to Tate and compared him to Trump in a podcast encounter just weeks ago.

On Thursday night’s edition of MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, the host roasted “starstruck” Habba over that appearance, and lashed out at Trump for claiming not to know what’s going on with the brothers:

CHRIS HAYES: The Washington Post specifically reports the brothers were allowed to leave Romania Thursday after the government lifted a travel restriction after pressure from the Trump administration.

Now, the Romanian foreign minister claims there was no political pressure, but Andrew Tate and his fellow so-called manosphere influencers have been credited for Trump’s recent popularity among young men.

Here’s the counselor to the president Alina Habba last month. This is, of course, after Andrew Tate has been arrested and charged with rape and sex trafficking. Here’s Habba absolutely starstruck at meeting the guy charged with rape and sex trafficking.

HOST: Andrew, we have a special guest that is joining us right now. Somebody who noticed that you would be on our show and wanted to say hello.

ALINA HABBA: Hey.

HOST: Hello, Alina.

ALINA HABBA: Hi. Nice to meet you. I’m a big fan!

ANDREW TATE: Well niceto meet you. I’m a fan. You’re the one saving Trump. You’re doing more important work than me.

CHRIS HAYES: Now because of Trump, Tate is back in the US again. Tate and his brother deny the charges against him by the Romanian authorities.

The president was actually asked about this earlier today. His response was effectively. “Sorry to this man. I don’t know who he is.”.

REPORTER: Did your administration pressure the Romanian government to release them, and if so why?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I know nothing about that. I don’t know. You’re saying he’s on a plane right now?

REPORTER: He’s back, they’re already here.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Yeah. I just know nothing about it. We’ll check it out. We’ll let you know.

CHRIS HAYES: You’ll check it out. You’re the president. You’re the president of the United States.

The government–. You say that all executive authority flows through you. So that’s the State Department. Your special envoy made a call. You don’t know anything?

What are you doing there? You just watching this all happen every day? Come out–. Talk to the cameras every day for?
