‘Petty Bullsh*t!’ Florida County Commission Meeting Blows Up Over Vote to Rename Road After Charlie Kirk

A county commission meeting in central Florida erupted in shouts and profanity Tuesday over a vote to rename a road after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was murdered earlier this month.

Kirk, 31, was speaking at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University on September 10 when he was fatally shot. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested for Kirk’s murder and is facing seven charges, including the capital felony of aggravated murder.

Included on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Lake County Commission (just west of Orlando) was a proposal to rename a county road the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway. “The meeting turned confrontational, with residents and commissioners clashing,” reported Fox35 Orlando.

The sparks flew after a local resident spoke during the public comment period to advocate for naming local roads after people who had served the community, like veterans or law enforcement officers. The resident specifically mentioned Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bradley Link, who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call in 2024.

“Wouldn’t it be more suitable and ideal to have a memorial to honor someone who fought to serve and protect us, have a true Lake County resident who was a brave American hero?” the resident asked.

“In these dark, dystopian times, let’s remember Deputy Link, and let’s look at things we can to do unite, and not divide us, and that includes you, Mr. Sabatini,” referring to Lake County Commissioner Anthony Sabatini, a former state representative and staunch MAGA Republican.

Sabatini responded with fury to the resident’s comments.

“How dare you use that deputy’s name for your petty bullsh*t political argument!” Sabatini scolded from the dais. “How dare you!”

Speaking later to reporters, Sabatini accused those opposing the name change of being “political agitators.”

“Charlie literally was just assassinated two weeks ago, and here you have political agitators coming out against him,” he said, “really almost days after he was buried. I thought it was very disturbing.”

According to Fox35, there were other “tense” moments during the commission meeting, and “several attendees” were “removed after heated exchanges.”
