Rep. Lauren Boebert Demands Colleagues Stop Mocking Trump’s Gulf of America Bid, Warns D.C. Is Next

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has urged her colleagues in Congress to stop making fun of President Donald Trump’s bid to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, warning that Washington, D.C., might be next.

Boebert bizarrely warned the District of Columbia may be rebranded the District of America on Tuesday during a discussion about the Gulf of America Act at a Water, Fisheries and Wildlife Subcommittee hearing.

“I would caution my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to refrain from making fun of the Gulf of America because next up may end up being the District of America that we are working on,” she said at the hearing.

She added: “So just, you know, keep the jokes at bay, and maybe we’ll just stick with the Gulf of America for now.”

During the same hearing, Boebert also pushed her Pet and Livestock Protection Act, which would end the endangered species designation of gray wolves that’s been in effect since 1973.

Boebert faced censure in the House earlier this month when she doubled down on her assertion that fellow rep Al Green (D-TX) used a “pimp cane” to heckle Trump during his speech to Congress in February.
