SHOCK POLL: Trump’s Approval Rating Plummets to Lowest in 80 Years for a President at the 100-Day Mark

If a shocking new poll is to be believed, the honeymoon for President Donald Trump is very much over — as his second term hits the 100-day mark.

According to a poll out early Sunday from ABC News, the Washington Post and Ipsos, just 39 percent of respondents said they approve of Trump’s job performance, while a whopping 55 percent said they disapprove. The previous low watermark for a president roughly 100 days into his term — in polls dating back to 1945 — was 42 percent, also set by President Trump in 2017.

The economy played a big role in the dismal poll numbers. The survey found 72 percent of respondents believe it’s either very or somewhat likely that Trump’s economic policies will cause a recession. In all, 73 percent consider the economy to be in bad shape, and 53 percent say it has gotten worse on Trump’s watch. And only 31 percent believe Trump’s argument that there will be a long-term payoff to his tariff strategy.

But the economy was just one metric on which the president was given a poor grade by respondents. Trump also came up short on questions pertaining to the rule of law and scope of government power — with 62 percent saying the president doesn’t respect the rule of law, and 58 percent saying they are concerned he will do too much to reduce the size and role of government.

Trump voters, however, aren’t going so far as to want a re-do. The poll said just six percent of Trump voters regret their ballot, while 94 percent said voting for Trump was “the right thing to do.” And a plurality of respondents trust Trump over Democrats to deal with the nation’s problems — as 37 percent trust Trump, and a dismal 30 percent trust Democrats in Congress.
