Shots Fired at ‘No Kings’ Protest in Utah — One Man Critically Injured: Report

 

A frightening scene played out at the “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City, UT on Saturday — as gunshots were fired leaving one man critically wounded.

According to a report from the Salt Lake Tribune, local police believe the shooting “involved four people” — including the man who was shot. A police spokesman said it is not clear who shot the man.

In video from the incident posted by the Salt Lake Tribune, three gunshots could be heard off camera — as protestors fled the scene.

The shooting happened just prior to 8 p.m. local time. A Salt Lake Tribune photographer heard officers yelling “Gunman!” and “Man with rifle!” as they swarmed into a parking garage.

Governor Spencer Cox (R-UT) denounced the incident in a post on X.

“The shooting at tonight’s protest in Salt Lake City is a deeply troubling act of violence and has no place in our public square,” the governor wrote.
