Trump Brushes Off Elon Musk’s Third Party, Insists ‘It’ll Help Us’ — Days After Slamming Musk’s ‘Disruption and Chaos’

President Donald Trump dismissed Elon Musk’s launch of a third political party, claiming it will only “help” him, though he was less sure about the Republican Party overall.

Musk announced over the weekend that he is forming an “America Party” after continually teasing creating a third party to challenge Trump and other Republicans supporting the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Disagreements over the budget bill led to a war of words between Musk and Trump, one that has continued as Musk has railed against the bill, arguing against the amount of spending and the raising of the debt ceiling.

Trump addressed Musk’s third party at a Tuesday White House cabinet meeting where he insisted it would only “help” him and his administration.

“I think it’ll help us. It’ll probably help. Third parties have always been good for me. I don’t know about Republicans, but for me…” the president said.

Trump said he has no regrets about federal cuts made by DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) while Musk was working as a special government employee. It was shortly after Musk’s time with DOGE was done that he became more open in expressing his displeasure with Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”

“I would have done it differently a little bit, maybe, but it was something that we saved a lot of money. You can always second guess, I guess some of the people in this room maybe would have done it slightly differently and some would have done it exactly the way it was done. But it was dramatic and it was important and we found a lot of things,” the president said.

In a previous Truth Social post, Trump took a more aggressive stance on Musk’s political party, accusing his former ally of going “off the rails.”

“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump wrote, claiming all third parties are good for is “the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS.”
