Trump Denied on Camera That Pam Bondi Told Him He Was in Epstein Files
A bombshell Wall Street Journal report published on Wednesday afternoon alleges that Attorney General Pam Bondi told President Donald Trump his name was mentioned in documents connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case back in May — but Trump denied as much on camera earlier this month.
Here’s how the July 15 exchange between Trump and a reporter outside of the White House went:
REPORTER: So the attorney general briefed you on the DOJ and FBI review, the findings of that review, the attorney general briefed you on that-
TRUMP: On what? On the- On what? On what subject?
REPORTER: Epstein, on Epstein. On the review of the files. Attorney General Pam Bondi –
TRUMP: A very, very quick briefing, yeah
REPORTER: Did she tell you-, what did she tell you about the review and specifically, did she tell you at all that your name appeared in the files?
TRUMP: No, no. She’s given us just a very quick briefing, and in terms of the credibility of the different things that they’ve seen. And I would say that, you know, these files were made up by [James] Comey, they were made by [Barack] Obama, they were made up by the Biden inf-, and we went through years of that with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, with all of the different things that we had to go through. We’ve gone through years of it. But she’s handled it very well, and it’s going to be up to her. Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.
On Wednesday, the Journal reported that “When Justice Department officials reviewed what Attorney General Pam Bondi called a ‘truckload’ of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times,” and that “In May, Bondi and her deputy informed the president at a meeting in the White House that his name was in the Epstein files.”
