Trump Draws Big Laugh at ‘Faith’ Event — With Crack About Putin Bombing Nursing Home

President Donald Trump drew a big laugh from the crowd at a White House Faith event when he told a story whose punchline was the bombing of a nursing home by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump was the headliner at what was dubbed a “White House Faith Office Luncheon” in the State Dining Room Monday, during which the president faced an appreciative crowd that even applauded when he used profanity.

The President also drew laughs on several occasions, including with an anecdote in which he says he addressed wife Melania Trump in private conversation as “First Lady” (that’s not the part they laughed at) and which climaxed with the vaporization of elderly Ukrainians and their caretakers:

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: This is a very important, very important thing, and hopefully that will come to an end. At the end of 50 days, if we don’t have a deal, then we’re going to have to do, we have no choice but to do secondary tariffs. You go with secondary tariffs, which are pretty tough, which we don’t want to have to do. But let’s see what happens.

But we thought we had a deal. Numerous times I’d get home, I’d say, “First Lady, I had the most wonderful talk with Vladimir. I think we’re finished.”

And then I’ll turn on the television or she’ll say to me one time, “Wow, that’s strange because he just bombed a nursing home.”

FAITH EVENT CROWD: (LAUGHTER).

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: They said, “What?”

FAITH EVENT CROWD: (LAUGHTER).

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: So we don’t like that.

But I want to thank you all for being here and welcome to the first ever White House Summit of Faith and Business Leaders. You’re really some of the greatest business leaders in the country. When I looked at some of their names, I said, whoa, that big stuff we have here today.

In fact, before I was president, I would have been very intimidated, but now I’m president, so I don’t have to be.

FAITH EVENT CROWD: (LAUGHER).

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: But today we celebrate the core values that built this country.
