Trump Posts Bonkers Eclipse-Themed Campaign Video – But Does He Stare At The Sun In It?

Former President Donald Trump posted an over-the-top campaign video themed to the total solar eclipse — but did it include Trump’s own history-making eclipse moment?

Cable and broadcast news — especially CNN — have been hyping a made-for-TV celestial event coming on Monday — a rare total solar eclipse that will have you busting out the cardboard eclipse glasses and trying to get that Bonnie Tyler song out of your head.

It will probably also have you remembering that time Trump looked directly at the sun during an eclipse in 2017, until someone identified as a White House aide shouted to Trump “Don’t look!” as he was looking at the sun and pointing at it.

But that infamous moment did not deter Trump from posting an eclipse-themed video set to the tune of Richard Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra, better known as That Song From 2001: A Space Odyssey. Fun fact: there’s a disco version.

Trump’s video opens with a shot of the sun, and quick cuts of people — most of whom wear eye protection — gathering to witness “The most important moment in human history.”

We won’t spoil the twist ending.

Ironically, Trump’s eclipse video was, itself, eclipsed Monday morning when Trump posted a four-and-a-half-minute Truth Social video announcing his position on abortion that leaned heavily into the well-worn and false attack on Democrats that they believe in legally “executing the baby” after it has been born:

It must be remembered that the Democrats are the radical ones are in this position because they support abortion up to and even beyond the ninth month. The concept of having an abortion in the later months, and even execution after birth.

And that’s exactly what it is. The baby is born. The baby is executed after birth. It is unacceptable, and almost everyone agrees with that.

President Joe Biden and the Democrats believe in allowing restrictions on abortion based on the standard of “viability” that Roe imposed, generally understood to be around 22 to 24 weeks, but which can also vary depending upon how the time of pregnancy is calculated.
