Trump Rages at ‘Rigged’ Court After Signalgate Case Lands with Judge Who Blocked Deportations: ‘No Way to Win!’
President Donald Trump went on a late-night tirade against the federal judge assigned to the Signalgate case as “highly conflicted” and suffering from “Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome” while complaining there was “no way” a Republican could “win before him.”
Judge James Boasberg, chief of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, has been assigned the case brought by watchdog group American Oversight. The group accuses Trump officials of violating the Federal Records Act by using Signal — a commercial messaging app with auto-delete settings — to coordinate on matters as grave as targeted killings.
The case was thrust into the spotlight after The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg reported that Trump’s national security advisor Mike Waltz had accidentally invited him into a Houthi strike Signal group chat including high ranking administration officials. The group discussed the subsequent airstrikes, sparking outrage in Washington and fresh calls for firings among Trump’s national security brass.
The White House has insisted no classified information was shared and claims Signal is a “Pentagon-approved” app. But the lawsuit seeks an injunction to preserve and recover any deleted messages after the screengrabs showed auto-delete settings turned on for the group.
Just last week, Trump called for Boasberg’s impeachment after the judge blocked the deportation of Venezuelan migrants and questioned the administration’s defiance of that ruling. The attacks led to an extraordinary statement from Chief Justice John Roberts, who warned: “Impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision.”
In a digital barrage posted after 1:00a.m. ET on Thursday, however, Trump took fresh aim at Boasberg for being assigned the new case.
The president fumed that it was “statistically, IMPOSSIBLE” Boasberg would land the case. He accused the judge of “Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome!” and claimed “disqualifying family conflicts.”
How disgraceful is it that “Judge” James Boasberg has just been given a fourth “Trump Case,” something which is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE. There is no way for a Republican, especially a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, to win before him. He is Highly Conflicted, not only in his hatred of me — Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome! — but also, because of disqualifying family conflicts. Boasberg, who is the Chief Judge of the D.C. District Court, seems to be grabbing the “Trump Cases” all to himself, even though it is not supposed to happen that way. Is there still such a thing as the “wheel,” where the Judges are chosen fairly, and at random? The good news is that it probably doesn’t matter, because it is virtually impossible for me to get an Honest Ruling in D.C. Our Nation’s Courts are broken, with New York and D.C. being the most preeminent of all in their Corruption and Radicalism. There must be an immediate investigation of this Rigged System, before it is too late!
