President Donald Trump warned that a looming Supreme Court ruling could cost the United States “in excess of 3 Trillion Dollars” if justices strike down his authority to impose sweeping tariffs, a move he said would be “devastating” for the economy.

The court is considering whether Trump exceeded his presidential powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which he invoked to justify a raft of tariffs central to his foreign and economic policy. Lower courts have ruled the measures unconstitutional without congressional approval, setting up a high-stakes test of executive authority.

A decision against the administration could force the government to refund billions to businesses that paid the tariffs, potentially unraveling trade deals built around the policy.

Trump has claimed the economic fallout would top $3 trillion, claiming on Truth Social late Monday that the “Supreme Court was given the wrong numbers”:

The court, which heard arguments earlier this month, is expected to deliver its ruling by December.

In a previous post on Sunday, the president slammed those who opposed the tariff regime as “FOOLS” and promised $2,000 “dividends” to Americans.

Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon, Trump warned that ruling against tariffs would be a “national security disaster.”
