The New York Post pulled no punches on Tuesday in roasting Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, who declared “Free Palestine” during her Sunday night Emmys acceptance speech. The Hamas-linked Quds News Network shared Einbinder’s later remarks to the press on X, but blurred out the actress’s bare shoulders.

“Hannah Einbinder explains that her decision to say ‘Free Palestine’ during her Emmys acceptance speech came from her belief that, as a Jewish person, she has a responsibility to distinguish Judaism and Jewish culture from the ethnonationalist project of the Israeli state,” Quds News posted on X above the censored clip. Quds News later deleted the post as it sparked a wave of criticism and mockery.

Einbinder made the cover of the Post on Tuesday under the headline, “Useful Infidel.” The subhead on the cover read, “Hamas praises anti-Israel Emmy rant by actress, but blurs out her sinful shoulders.”

While accepting her award, Einbinder concluded by saying, “I just wanna say, finally, go birds, fuck ICE and free Palestine.”

She later explained the comment to reporters backstage, while standing alongside her Hacks co-star Jean Smart.

“I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors, right now in the north of Gaza to provide care for pregnant women and for school children to create schools in refugee camps. It’s an issue that’s very close to my heart for many reasons,” Einbinder said, adding:

I feel like it’s my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and longstanding … institution that is really separate to this sort of ethnonationalist state.
