Video Captures Mississippi Lt. Governor Collapsing on Senate Floor In Horrifying Scene

 

A video going viral on X shows Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann (R) collapsing to the ground while presiding over the state Senate chambers on Wednesday morning.

Onlookers appeared horrified when the 77-year-old fell face-first onto the ground of the Senate chambers in a video posted to social media. Hosemann was seen falling forward while standing on the podium.

Staffers quickly attended to the fallen elected official and the session was called into recess. According to WJTV-12 News, Hosemann was seen walking to a vehicle shortly after the incident concluded.

Hosemann reportedly was able to stand up after the fall and declined to be taken to a hospital after emergency responders appeared on the scene, according to WJTV-12 News.

A spokesperson for Hosemann’s office later released a statement claiming, “Lieutenant Governor Hosemann is doing well and in good spirits. He appreciates all of the medical staff and is eager to return to work.”

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves (R) later posted on X, “@firstladyofms and I are praying for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann!”
