WATCH: Authorities Reveal New Info on ‘College-Aged’ Charlie Kirk Assassin, Including ‘Bolt-Action Rifle’
Authorities have recovered the gun used by the suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, but are still engaged in an active manhunt for the “college-aged” shooter.
FBI Salt Lake City Special Agent-In-Charge Robert Bohls said during a press conference Thursday that the agency recovered a high-powered, bolt-action rifle in a wooded area where Kirk’s killer is believed to have fled.
In addition, Bohls confirmed that they have images of the assassin, and investigators are analyzing video of the gunman’s movements, as well as palm and footprints found near the weapon.
“We will relentlessly pursue this case, and the shooter, until we find him,” Bohls said.
Investigators are also scouring clips of the killer that they have obtained since the shooting.
“We do have good video footage of this individual,” Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said. “We are not going to release that at this time.”
He added that the gunman appears to be of “college-age.”
Authorities believe that after firing the fatal shot, the killer jumped from his perch on a roof about 200 yards away from where Kirk was speaking.
“We are exhausting every lead,” Bohls said.
Mason also revealed he spoke to Kirk’s widow after the Turning Point USA founder’s death.
“Last night I communicated with Erika,” he said. “The family’s devastated. As commissioner of public safety, as a father, as a husband, I can only imagine what that family is going through.”
