‘Press Out!’ Dr. Oz’s Swearing-in Ceremony at White House Cut Short After Family Member Faints

A swearing-in ceremony at the White House came to an abrupt end when there appeared to be a medical emergency and press was ushered out of the room.

President Donald Trump swore in Dr. Mehmet Oz as the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Friday. While speaking to reporters, the president began speaking about nuclear negotiations with Iran, saying they cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon or American citizens will be in “great danger.”

Just then someone in the room called for the president’s attention and someone else could be heard saying, “fainted,” as people, including Dr. Oz, rushed off camera. The press were then quickly removed from the room.

“Press out! Everybody get out, right now!” White House officials could be heard saying.

Family members of Dr. Oz’s were in attendance, as well as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. Kennedy and Oz were standing behind Trump when the incident occurred.

“A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are happy to say she is okay,” the White House said in a statement.

The White House press pool reported that the person to faint was a “young girl,” who “quickly stood up but appeared unsteady” after Oz rushed to her side.

The president also addressed negotiations regarding a potential peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, suggesting he’ll abandon the talks if “horrible people” make it too difficult.

“If, for some reason, one of the two parties makes it very difficult, we’re just going to say, you’re foolish, you are fools, you’re horrible people, and we’re gonna just take a pass,” he said. “But hopefully, we won’t have to do that.”
