Incredible footage from the aftermath of the devastating Air India plane crash shows one of the passengers walking away after he reportedly survived the doomed flight.

The man, identified as Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, was shown limping toward an ambulance as a huge plume of black smoke rose behind him in a video obtained by India Today.

Ramesh, a British national, reportedly told authorities he was seated in seat 11A on the doomed Boeing 787 Dreamliner, close to an emergency exit on the jet, when it crashed in Ahmedabad, Western India.

“The plane exploded,” Ramesh told people crowding around him as he walked away from the wreckage, according to India Today.

The Guardian reported that Ramesh was in Ahmedabad to visit family and returning home to Great Britain.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik told India Today that Ramesh is receiving treatment in a hospital.

Flight AI171 was bound for London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed shortly after takeoff.
