‘We Didn’t Get There’: Trump Announces No Agreement Following Putin Meeting

President Donald Trump concluded a short press conference with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, announcing that no agreement or deal was reached.

The joint media availability opened with Putin speaking in his mother tongue for six minutes, ostensibly blaming former President Joe Biden for his invasion of Ukraine and flattering Trump by agreeing with the president’s claim that he would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump were elected in 2020.

Trump followed and was gracious to his guest, but ultimately failed to announce any specifics of any agreement, even saying “we didn’t get there,” before suggesting that they would “hopefully” be meeting again soon.

Trump said:

I’m going to start making a few phone calls and tell them what happened. But we had an extremely productive meeting, and many points were agreed to. And there are just a very few that are left. Some are not that significant. One is probably the most significant, but we have a very good chance of getting there. We didn’t get there, but we have a very good chance of getting there.
