Actor Walton Goggins ended a recent interview with The Times of London after he was repeatedly questioned about speculation that he had a falling out with a White Lotus co-star.
The interview with editor Ed Potton was published Friday morning and began cordially. About halfway through the chat, Potton brought up actress Aimee Lou Wood, who starred as Goggins’ girlfriend in season three of HBO’s The White Lotus.
As Vanity Fair noted, fans of the show speculated the two actors were not on good terms as they stopped following each other on social media recently.
Potton asked Goggins to discuss the topic.
“I’m not gonna have that conversation,” the actor said.
Two publicists present during the interview asked Potton not to broach the subject, with the American telling Potton, “We’re not going there, thank you.” Potton wrote:
We move on to The Uninvited, written and directed by Conners and starring Elizabeth Reaser as Rose, a renowned stage actress who has put her career on hold to be a mother. Goggins plays her husband, Sammy, a Hollywood agent who very much hasn’t put his on hold, with Pedro Pascal and Rufus Sewell playing egocentric actors.
Later during the interview, Potton again asked Goggins about his relationship with Wood:
When I bring up Wood again he cuts me off. “There is no conversation to be had about that. Sharing politics on social media — it’s in a vacuum.” I make a last forlorn attempt. “What the f***, Ed!” Goggins gasps. “Come on buddy. Wow.”
Goggins’ American publicist then told Potton, “We’re going to end it there.”
The actor is scheduled to host Saturday Night Live next month. The show did a White Lotus parody in April that poked fun at Wood’s teeth, drawing a response from the actress and a rare apology from the show.
“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” Wood wrote on social media. “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she later wrote, “I’ve had apologies from SNL.”
