Woman Yells ‘Payton, You’re a Coward!’ at Alleged Buffalo Shooter in Court

A woman yelled at the alleged Buffalo supermarket shooter on Thursday, calling him “a coward.”

This occurred following a court hearing where Payton Gendron was indicted by a grand jury following the Saturday shooting at the Tops Friendly Markets, where Gendron allegedly killed 10 people and wounded three others.

Gendron, 18, was ordered to be held in custody without bail. A judge set his next hearing for June 9. If convicted, Gendron faces up to life in prison without parole.

As Gendron was escorted from the courtroom, a woman yelled, “Payton, you’re a coward!”

Gendron allegedly wrote a 180-page screed that included White supremacist rhetoric and mentioned that he targeted that particular grocery store because it was in an area with a high Black population. Social media posts reportedly made by Gendron showed his plans to carry out the shooting.

“I’m going to have to kill that security guard at Tops I hope he doesn’t kill me or even hurt me instantly,” Gendron allegedly posted on 4Chan on March 10.

President Joe Biden visited Buffalo on Tuesday and paid his respects outside the supermarket. In a speech, he remembered those killed, one by one, and denounced White supremacy and replacement theory ideology. The president labeled the shooting as domestic terrorism.
