Republicans on the House Oversight Committee released 20,000 additional documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate on Wednesday, proclaiming “you deserve the full truth” just hours after Democratic colleagues published emails by Epstein referencing President Donald Trump.
The response came after the White House and House Republicans accused Democrats of selectively releasing emails to “slander” the president.
The massive new release appears aimed at reinforcing that argument, though its full implications remain unclear pending a closer review of the documents.
Early Wednesday, Democrats on the committee published three Epstein emails mentioning Trump’s name. In one message sent by Epstein to his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, the disgraced financier wrote:
i want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump..[VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.
Democrats redacted the victim’s identity, prompting an immediate backlash from Republican colleagues, who revealed her as Virginia Giuffre, a key Epstein accuser who did not accuse Trump of wrongdoing. The Republicans then accused Democrats of “trying to create a fake narrative” to implicate the president.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed that line, arguing that Democrats had “selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.”
“I don’t think Donald Trump participated in anything,” she added.
