The Democratic nominee for New York City’s mayoral race, Zohran Mamdani, wrote a two-word reply in response to opponent Andrew Cuomo’s (I) radio interview with a conservative radio host on Thursday.

Cuomo, who served as the Democratic governor of New York until resigning amid a sexual harassment scandal, is running against Mamdani as an independent. Also in the race is Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Cuomo appeared on the radio show “Sid & Friends in the Morning” on Thursday with conservative radio host Sid Rosenberg, to talk about Wednesday night’s mayoral debate.

“Sid, that job is a scary job,” Cuomo said. “You wake up as mayor, you wake up as governor — any morning, there’s a prison uprising. There’s a mass shooting. There’s Legionnaire’s Disease. There’s going to be a physical collapse…any given morning there’s a crisis, and people’s lives are at stake.  God forbid, another 9/11 — can you imagine Mamdani in the seat?” Cuomo asked about the practicing Muslim.

“Yeah, I could — He’d be cheering,” Rosenberg quipped.

Cuomo chuckled before saying, “That’s another problem.”

Mamdani responded on X, writing, “Just disgusting.”

During the mayoral debate the night before, both Cuomo and Sliwa went on the attack against Mamdani, who currently holds a double-digit lead over his opponents.

“I think overall he was far and away the worst of the three on stage,” Rosenberg told Cuomo.

At one point, Mamdani let the audience know that one of the 13 women who accused Cuomo of sexual harassment while he was governor was actually in attendance, sparking audible gasps from the audience.

Cuomo claimed that all of the cases were eventually dropped.

“So everything you’ve just stated, you just said, was a misstatement,” Cuomo asserted.
