‘Chef’s Kiss!’ Jon Stewart Revels In Watching Pam Bondi, Trump Officials Squirm Over Epstein Backlash
John Stewart burst into laughter at President Donald Trump, Attorney Pam Bondi and others responding to fierce backlash over the administration’s new claim that there is no such thing as the infamous “Epstein files.”
On The Weekly Show, Stewart gave a “chef’s kiss” in reaction to the administration’s reversal on Jeffrey Epstein. Numerous MAGA faithful have lashed out over a Department of Justice/FBI memo claiming there are no “Epstein files,” which typically refers to a supposed list of high-profile clients the late billionaire sexually abused women with.
At the time of his apparent suicide while in custody in 2019, Epstein was facing charges for sex trafficking minors. He was already a convicted child predator at the time. Trump officials made reference to more information to come about Epstein and his private island, and Bondi even said in February the Epstein client list was sitting on her desk.
On The Weekly Show, Stewart blasted the president for acting with shock this week during a White House meeting at a reporter asking a question about the memo and Epstein.
“Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? We have Texas, we have this all of the things. Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable!” Trump said.
“The first time they brought up Epstein in a cabinet meeting and Trump immediately jumps in, ‘Really? You’re going to talk about that guy, that guy? The guy that my audience has been clamoring about for 10 years?’… You were on like the 11th hole when all of this was going down, you didn’t change, and it’s a very reasonable question.”
The Daily Show host argued Epstein conspiracies were central to his campaign and now officials are being forced to do an about-face in real time.
“Watching Pam Bondi have to go from, and it’s the same that happened with [Dan] Bongino and [Kash] Patel, to go from conspiracy theorist to reasoned expert is just, mwah, chef’s kiss,” Stewart said.
The comedian predicted officials will ultimately find a way to spin the story, theorizing a world in which they argue Trump is using the Epstein information as leverage behind the scenes. Stewart also red flagged Trump saying in 2024 that there could be “phony stuff” in the Epstein files.
“Trump said there was phony stuff in there. And we all know the definition of phony when it comes to Donald Trump. Anything that reflects poorly on Donald Trump is phony or fake,” Stewart said. “So by the very fact that he used that word specifically tells you something, very much so.”
