Chuck Todd Says Biden’s Presidency Looked So ‘Weak and Ineffective’ He Drove People Back Into Trump’s Arms

Chuck Todd argued former President Joe Biden’s “legacy” will ultimately be that he drove people back to President Donald Trump with what was ultimately viewed as a “weak and ineffective” time in the White House.

On a Chuck ToddCast podcast episode this week on how Trump “bullied the resistance into submission” and how detractors can fight back, Todd at one point turned to Biden and how the country moved from Trump 1.0 to Trump 2.0.

Todd argued that Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election came down to voters not seeing Trump as representing the best of the country. He chalked up legal pushback and protests against ICE raids and more as evidence that that resistance still exists. Democrats losing in 2024 though, according to Todd, boiled down to Biden, who “didn’t turn the page.”

“He wasn’t a good enough leader. A better leader helps the country turn the page. You know, we rarely go backwards as a country, so how bad of a presidency do you have to have to encourage the country to go backwards? And the perception of the Biden presidency was it’s just a weak and ineffective presidency,” Todd said.

The former Meet the Press moderator added that Trump’s 2024 victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris has forced people to try to “deal with Trump differently” and try negotiating and placating him more. As for Biden, Todd argued Trump returning to office will ultimately overshadow any long-lasting accomplishments from Biden’s time in office.

“It’s possible some of the things he signed into law will have long term success, but the fact of the matter is his legacy is Donald Trump came back,” Todd said. “And that’s on Joe Biden.”
