Don Lemon ‘Won’t Disagree’ With Kathy Griffin Claim Trump, Musk Rigged Election: ‘Something Was Off’

Comedian and actress Kathy Griffin anticipated being called “crazy” for stating her belief that President Donald Trump rigged the last election, but former CNN host Don Lemon did not meet that expectation this week, instead saying Griffin is “not far off” and agreeing that “something” wasn’t right about the 2024 vote.

The moment was close to the end of Lemon’s interview with Griffin on his YouTube podcast, The Don Lemon Show, in an episode that premiered this week.

First, Griffin prepped her comments by first asking if Lemon was ready for a “tin foil hat” moment, to which he replied that he was. She then laid out her view, which included an Elon Musk aspect to it amid the tech CEO’s war with Trump.

“Are you ready for a tin foil hat moment?” Griffin said.

“Yes,” said Lemon.

“Okay, I’m just going to be bold and say this. And you know, you can take issue with this all you want,” she said. “I do not think he won in a free and fair election.”

Then, after a dramatic pause on both their parts, Griffin continued.

“Yeah, I said it. I’m Kathy Griffin and I do not think Trump won in a free and fair election,” she said. “I believe there was tampering.”

She then added that she didn’t know any specifics about what may have been done, saying, “I don’t know if it was the Elon connection. I don’t know if it was just a few good old boys in the South, and arguing that past claims of stolen elections by Trump and his supporters are evidence of their own guilt.

“I know I’ll take heat for this and people are going to say I’m crazy,” Griffin continued. “But I’ve been called crazy before, Don.”

However, Lemon did not call her crazy. Rather, he told her, “You’re not far off,” and, “I won’t say that I disagree with you.”

“I’d like to see the evidence,” Lemon added, before quickly qualifying: “I think something was off.”

Finally, Lemon echoed one of Griffin’s points: “As you said, every accusation is a confession” — referring to past GOP claims of election tampering without mentioning that when Trump or other Republicans have floated theories like that, it was treated as dangerous threat to democracy itself.

GRIFFIN: Alright, ready for a tinfoil hat moment?

LEMON: I’m sorry?

GRIFFIN: Are you ready for a tin foil hat moment?

LEMON: Yes.

GRIFFIN: Okay, I’m just going to be bold and say this. And you know, you can take issue with this all you want. I do not think he won in a free and fair election.

How do you like that, lefties? Yeah, I said it. I’m Kathy Griffin and I do not think Trump won in a free and fair election. I believe there was tampering. I don’t know. I don’t, I don’t know if it was the Elon connection. I don’t know if it was just a few good old boys in the South who didn’t do — you know, I mean what they accuse us of, if you remember Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, what they tend to accuse us of is what we find out they themselves did.

So, I know I’ll take heat for this and people are going to say I’m crazy, but I’ve been called crazy before, Don. And I just, I just the more time…

LEMON: Your gut is telling you something happened.

GRIFFIN: My gut is telling me that something was up with that.

LEMON: You’re not far off. I mean I won’t, I won’t say that I disagree with you.

GRIFFIN: Okay.

LEMON: But I’m an evidence person. I’d like to see the evidence. I think something was off, and especially when someone said, oh, we’ve got this. And, you know, how do you know that? How do we know we’ve got this? How do you know, or I don’t need your vote or anything like that. It’s a little bit odd.

GRIFFIN: Right. This will be the last election. We won’t have any elections after this.

LEMON: Vote for me and you won’t have to vote again anymore. And also, um, you know, as you said, every accusation is a confession.

GRIFFIN: Yeah.

LEMON: You know?

GRIFFIN: Yeah.

LEMON: You, know what I’m saying?

GRIFFIN: All right, well, let’s leave our viewers with that, because we can’t top that. I’m gonna get in trouble and I can’t wait.
