GOP Senator Claims New York City Will Be ‘Completely Muslim in Three or Four Years’ After Mamdani Win

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) claimed New York City will become “completely Muslim in three or four years” following Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the city’s mayoral election.

During a Friday appearance on Steve Bannon’s WarRoom podcast, Tuberville threw his support behind President Donald Trump’s wish for the Senate to abandon the filibuster rule requiring 60 votes in order to reopen the federal government. Trump’s push to get rid of the filibuster has faced protests from even Republican lawmakers.

While Tuberville argued that the “rules don’t apply anymore,” he made his warning about New York City now that Mamdani, a Muslim, self-described democratic socialist, will be coming in as mayor. Tuberville fears New York City will not only be “completely Muslim,” but everything will be “free.”

“I’m a traditionalist and, you know, I come up here, 60 votes, hey, that sounds great, but we’re in a different country, Steve. This is a different time. We just saw what happened in New York. We lost New York. It will be completely Muslim in three or four years. That’s what they want. They’re gonna have everything free there for them and they’re just going to spread throughout the country,” said Tuberville.

Mamdani won New York City’s mayoral race on Tuesday against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Tuberville claimed before the mayoral election that Muslims were trying to “take over” New York City and said Mamdani should be deported.

“I think we oughta pack him up and send him home,” the senator told Fox Business. “My God, we do not need that anywhere in this country, especially New York. You know, it’s– what a great city that was. But he’s gonna manage to bring it all the way down.”
