Not ‘A Christian Thing To Do’: Bill O’Reilly Shames Trump and Conservatives For ‘Dancing on the Grave’ of Jim Acosta’s Career

Bill O’Reilly is not a fan of President Donald Trump or others “dancing on the graves” of media critics like Jim Acosta and Neil Cavuto, both of whom recently left long-running gigs at their networks.

CNN recently announced some significant strategy shifts, including shuffling its weekday schedule. The original announcement left Acosta’s future with the network in limbo, and he announced this week that he was departing his position with the network, ripping into Trump in his final on-air message.

Trump took to Truth Social to call Acosta “one of the worst and most dishonest reporters.”

“Wow, really good news! Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, “Death Valley,” because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!). Word is that he wants to QUIT, and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up. Good luck Jim!” he wrote.

Trump also celebrated Cavuto, announcing he was leaving his Fox News and Fox Business duties.

On his No Spin News on Wednesday, O’Reilly called Acosta “unfair” in his coverage of Trump.

“He’s not a reporter, he’s a commentator, Acosta. And if you hate somebody, then you shouldn’t even mention them, right? Because you can’t comment in a fair way on someone you hate. Does that make sense to everybody? That’s the big problem here. If you hate them — and there are a few people that I despise, but I tell you upfront that I do,” he said.

The former Fox News host still pushed back on Trump and other critics celebrating Acosta leaving CNN.

He argued:

A lot of conservatives are happy. They’re dancing on his grave and President Trump did that today… okay, the president did that with Neil Cavuto too because Cavuto had no use for Donald Trump. And then Cavuto is booted out of Fox, and Acosta is booted out of CNN. What does that say to you? Says that Donald Trump has some juice now in the corporations that run the media. But anyway, I don’t like dancing on the graves. I know it’s human nature, but I don’t think it’s a Christian thing to do. And maybe I amend that. I don’t think it’s in accord with Judeo-Christian philosophy.

While reports indicated Acosta was on his way out before his CNN exit, Cavuto was not “booted” from his network. Mediaite’s own Colby Hall exclusively reported that Cavuto was offered a new contract that he ultimately declined.

Hall reported:

Cavuto is one of the few remaining on-air talent still with the network after joining at its inception in the late 1990s. A beloved presence at Fox, his exit is not the consequence of any bad blood, but rather an increasingly common industry reality: Cavuto was offered a new contract, which he declined to accept his new deal. Fox wanted him to stay on board, but a source explained that he ultimately decided to leave.

Hall also reported from a source that “Cavuto’s departure has nothing to do with Trump. If his occasional criticism of Trump had been an issue, his show would have likely been canceled years ago, certainly before the election.”

O’Reilly predicted Acosta likely won’t be seen anywhere near as much in Trump’s second administration compared to his first, but that doesn’t make him “happy.”

“You’re probably not going to see him a lot, and that doesn’t make me happy,” he said. “I don’t want the guy’s life to be destroyed or harmed in any way, even though I believe that he presented himself in an unfair way.”
