Bill Keller Thinks the New York Times Will Be Just Fine
Former New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller backed waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy off the plate when a New York interview turned to the subject of the recent dustup at the Gray Lady that saw the nasty firing of Keller’s replacement Jill Abramson amidst accusations of sexism and pay disparities. (She was replaced by Dean Baquet.)
“Dean and Jill are both people I love and admire,” Keller said. “I don’t think I want to get into kibitzing from the sidelines. It made me sad to see the place going through that kind of storm. It’s not great for morale — I know from having been through a few storms myself. But it is a big ship and it’s not going to be turned off course by a storm.”
Keller has gone on to a journalism startup focusing on issues of the justice system and prisons. He had much more specific things to say about former NYT blogger Nate Silver, who’s preceded Keller in the journostartup business with FiveThirtyEight.
