George W. Bush Surprises Dalai Lama with Homemade Portrait
The Dalai Lama visited Dallas, Texas, Wednesday afternoon to give a speech to Southern Methodist University. But before the speech, he visited the George W. Bush Presidential Center for a pleasant surprise.
During his tour, former president George W. Bush presented the Tibetan Buddhist leader with a homemade portrait. A Bush Center staffer caught the moment on camera:
Bush has famously taken up painting in his post-presidency. Other famous subjects include his father George H. W. Bush, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and German chancellor Angela Merkel.
A staff member told The Daily Mail that His Holiness was very happy, “but joked that his right eye could use a little work.”
