NY Post Source: New CNN Chief Jeff Zucker Looking To Hollywood For New Reporter Talent
According to a New York Post report, new CNN chief Jeff Zucker — who is replacing outgoing head Jim Walton — has been looking to Hollywood print publications to recruit new talent for his network’s reporter pool.
A source familiar with the situation told the Post that Zucker has “reached out to some top reporters in Hollywood to help CNN break more news in that area. He has been sounding out reporters at Variety and Hollywood Reporter.”
The source described the new network president’s mentality: “You can’t turn TV people into great reporters, but you can turn a great reporter into a decent broadcaster.”
Zucker has already made waves in recruiting new CNN talent by hiring well-respected ABC News White House correspondent Jake Tapper. Rumors have also swirled that Zucker is looking to swap Erin Burnett from primetime to morning, giving Soledad O’Brien a primetime show.
