NY Times Journo Kicked Out of Trump Event After Negative Coverage

PicMonkey Collage - TrumpThe New York TimesTrip Gabriel was kicked out of a Donald Trump campaign event Friday, apparently in retaliation for his unflattering coverage of the Republican candidate.

Gabriel showed up late for Trump’s appearance at Iowa staple Pizza Ranch Friday, after 20 other journalists were already admitted. But a minute after arriving and despite having press credentials, a police officer and Trump staffer kicked him out.

The Trump official said he was being removed on the orders of “Chuck and Stephanie,” apparently a reference to Chuck Laudner and Stephanie Laudner, Trump’s Iowa director and his wife. “It’s a private event,” the officer insisted, even as the other journalists remained.

On Wednesday, Gabriel wrote a much-shared article indicating that Donald Trump’s Iowa ground game was confused and unorganized. Among the embarrassing revelations was that one of Trump’s volunteer leaders was a prominent 9/11 truther and that Trump staffers were driving voters to the polls without even knowing who they were voting for.

Politico points out that Gabriel is in good company. Trump’s campaign has either removed or withheld press passes for journalists affiliated with BuzzFeed, Fusion, The Des Moines Register and The Huffington Post.
