Sports Radio Icon ‘Mad Dog’ Russo Goes SCORCHED EARTH on Trump and Both Parties in All-Timer of a Rant on Shutdown

Sports radio legend Chris “Mad Dog” Russo went absolutely ballistic on “stupid” President Donald Trump and both congressional Republicans and Democrats for doing a “Goddamn awful job” handling the government shutdown — a failure he said resulted in travel chaos for Americans nationwide, including his two sons.

“Every single one of you should be incredibly embarrassed that you represent this country,” Russo said towards the end of his scorched earth rant on Monday. “That even in a time of disarray, you couldn’t figure out a way to solve a problem that seemed to me to be pretty solvable, and you didn’t have the guts, the courtesy, the audacity to go across the aisle and figure something out, and that, to me, is an incredible disgrace!”

There were plenty of other standout lines from Russo’s diatribe, which happened on his SiriusXM program, Mad Dog Unleashed, on Monday. Sports Illustrated writer Jimmy Traina shared a slice of it on Instagram, which you can watch below.

Russo ripped both parties for the “absolute unmitigated disaster” at airports nationwide over the past week, saying there were people “punching each other” and “screaming in tears” because of the “stupid” lockdown.

“You are supposed to go to Washington to run it, not close it,” Russo vented.

He continued: “I’m embarrassed that we have politicians on the Democratic side, on the Republican side, who don’t give a crap, one way or the other, about the poor American citizen.”

Russo, a moment later, moved on to bashing President Trump. He said it was absurd to see the president talking to the Fox NFL broadcast on Sunday at the Washington Commanders-Detroit Lions game while Americans were scrambling to make their travel plans work. That included his two kids, including one who had a flight that left 17 hours after its scheduled departure time from LaGuardia Airport in New York City, he yelled.

“And yet, I got the president of the United States on Fox, breaking down Drew Brees and what kind of ball he throws so his tight end can make a catch,” said Russo. “He knows nothing about pro football, very little about sports, and that’s what he’s doing on a Sunday afternoon, when the country’s a disaster?!”

He then ripped Trump for saying previously he would solve any shutdowns in a matter of minutes back when Barack Obama was president.

Russo ended his rant by saying other countries — including rivals like China and Russian leader Vladimir Putin — must be “laughing” at the U.S.

“This is America? All of you should be embarrassed. Every single one of you elected officials,” he mused.
